First Secretary Knut-Are Okstad.– The co-operation between the Greek and Nordic authorities in case of an emergency is vital in being able to plan for what we hope will never happen. At the same time we realize that our Nordic citizens expect a lot from their local embassies during time of crisis. Planning is therefore an essential part of our public relation management, says Knut-Are Okstad, First secretary at the Norwegian Embassy.
Even though these emergency committees now are being established, Greece is still considered a perfectly safe destination for your holiday.
– We find Greece to be one of the most secure summer destinations for our Norwegian citizens. But still, the potential for a natural disaster or a major incident is always imminent, says Okstad.
As the Nordic citizens is the third biggest tourist group in Greece – after Great Britain and Germany – the Nordic embassies recently arranged a Nordic contingency seminar to prepare for the summer. 80 representatives from regional authorities, Nordic Embassies, Consulates and the tourist sector attended this seminar.
