On Wednesday 22 October at 13:30, there will be a lecture on Theophrastus and his work on botanology by Haakon Smedsvig Hanssen at the Agricultural University of Athens.

Haakon Smedsvig Hanssen (61) is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Agder University. He has established an educational and research centre in Lesvos. His critical narration is based on his university background in Philosophy, History and Theology.

Theophrastus (371-287 BC) was born in Eressos, Lesvos and was the successor of Aristotle in the Peripatetic school at the Lyceum in Athens. His name, originally Tyrtanius, was changed by Aristotle to Theophrastus from the divine character of his eloquence. He wrote extensively on philosophy and the natural sciences.
