Choir goes back to their roots

Every second year the Archadia Choir from Norway gives concerts in Greece. This year the choir will perform at the Choir festival in Litohoro and Athens.

Litohoro:  15th May, 2nd Elementary school at 19:00.

Athens: 18th May.  Museum of Greek folk music instruments (Foivos Anogianakis, 1-3 Diogenous street, Aerides square, Plaka) at 20:00

The choir was founded in 1981 in Oslo, with the objective to work on Greek choir music, as a result of the love and interest for Greek music and culture.

As of now, they have given concerts in Livadia, Molyvos, Petra and Plomari in Lesvos, in Lefkada, Arta, Jiannena in Ipiros, Rethymno Adele and Paleohora in Crete, Athytos (Halkidiki) and Thessaloniki in 1997, as a part of the Cultural Capital programme. And in 2002 and 2006 they were invited by the municipality of Rhodes.

The choir has had TV and radio appearances, numerous concerts in Oslo and other towns of Norway, and in 1999 they presented the CD Greek Choir Music from the Antiquity to Today.

Since 1988, the choir has been led by Marilena Zlatanou, Greek classical singer and conductor from Thessaloniki. Zlatanou is a very active performer both as a singer and a conductor, with a wide variety of musical activity and appearances in operas, and oratorios, but mostly in chamber music concerts, radio and TV appearances, CD recordings, research and presentation of early music, tours and numerous concerts all over Norway as well as England Holland..
