A brief span of only a few hours in May 2010 will gather much of the world together. Sharing the moment with one thing in common: the fascination and curiosity for this annual event people love and hate.
The Contest has been broadcast every year since its inauguration in 1956 and is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world.
Today it is a global event providing opportunities to make intercultural communication and contact. And in fact it kind of does: A little 6-year old Norwegian-Greek boy last year proudly announced that his schoolteacher had Alexander Rybak's "Fairytale" as her ringtone on her mobilephone. A practical and fine way of building cultural bridges across borders!
