Norwegian Alog and Satyricon visit Greece this weekend for live performances.

Alog

Experimental electronica band Alog will perform at the Theocharakis Foundation in Athens the 8th of May. The show is presented by the MARIONETTENTHEATER with the support of the Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian Institute at Athens. Opening act will be by Christine Kassesian.

The band consists of Norwegians Espen Sommer Eide (b.1972) and Dag-Are Haugan (b.1970), and was formed in 1997. The debut album ”Red Shift Swing” came in 1999, and the band has been following up with two more albums since. They were awarded the Norwegian Grammy Spellemannsprisen for best electronica release in 2005.

Alogs music has been described as organic, intuitive, and using instruments such as Harmonica, bagpipes and other instruments. Some of the sounds and instruments have been digitalized, and are combined with acoustic sounds. They also build some of their own instruments.  Both Haugan and Sommer Eide have found inspiration in the Greek culture both through instruments and personal experiences.

Espen Sommer Eide lives in Bergen and is involved in the citys experimental music scene, while having the solo-project Phonophani as well as being a part of Alog.
Dag-Are Haugan holds a master degree from the Malmö Academy of Fine Arts in Sweden. He has released a solo vinyl album, ”9 Solitaires.

Alog will be performing at the Theocharakis Foundation  at 20:30 on the 8th of May. Ticket prize is 16 Euros and 20 Euros on the day of the event.
