Norwegians become "Golden Citizens of the Municipality of Phytagorio

Oslo Handball Club 's Old Boys (OHB) have for many years made it a nice tradition to take one week off in June og rent a sailboat on the Greek Islands.

25 years the tradition has been repeated.  22 times o Phytagorio on the island of Samos.  It seems to be an ideal place for these sporty Norwegians. They sail between the islands and over to mainland Turkey.  At night they usually ancor up in the beautiful harbour of Phytagorio on the island of Samos.  The town's tourist authorities and business people also seem to appreciate that these Norwegians continue visiting the area.  A committees in the municipality voted them to be "Golden Citizens of Phytagorio" in 2008.  The Mayor of Phytagorio had a banquet in their honour and the press was present.  Each and every member - they were 22 present then - were given a token (minneplate) of this event and issued diplomas in their names.

The hospitality and the enthusiasm shown when the Old Boys show up is evident.  They always bring fun and have a behaviour pattern that seems to be in step with the Greek mind."
