The Norwegian storyteller Torgrim Mellum Stene will tell a story from the sea of the North at the Fairytale Festival at the island of Kea, running from July 2 to 10. All the events have free admission.
The Fairytale Festival is an annual festival taking place in the island Kea. Aiming to preserve folk tales, the festival invites prominent narrators from Greece and abroad. They deliver stories in imposing, natural locations, while they are often accompanied by other cultural happenings, book exhibitions, seminars and more. The theme of this year's festival is "the sea".
The Norwegian Storyteller Torgrim Mellum Stene will perform on July 8 with the story "Song of the Sea Raven":
Far, far to the North, where the midnight sun reigns, in treacherous waters, the sea ravens sing. Some say they are spirits, some say they are men, some say they can lead you to the land of elfkin. Welcome to a tale of hard seas, strong love and a paradise lost beneath the waves.
Also Torgrim will participate in a round table discussion and presentation of six International Storytelling Festivals. He will present the Festival of Oslo. This event has the title "Six International Storytelling Festivals talk" and will be on Saturday morning July 9.
All the events have free admission and take place in picturesque places with natural or historical importance in Kea. Read more about the festival here.
The festival is supported by the Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian Institute at Athens.
