There is a long tradition of celebrating Christmas at the Scandinavian Church in Athens. This year is no exception as the Church hosts its annual Norwegian Christmas Service on December 10th. Prior to the service two Norwegian storytellers will tell fairytales.

This year the service will take place on  December 10th at 18:00.  Priest Jon Ådnøy welcomes children and adults alike.

Prior to the service, at 17:00, storytellers Sara Birgitte Øfsti and Torgrim Mellum Stene will perform traditional fairytales: a version of ”De sju folene” and "et gammel tradisjonelt folkeeventyr fra Asbjørnsen og Moe om to brødre, en magisk håndkvern og masser av grøt."

There is no better way to find the “Julestemning” than to listen to children singing traditional Christmas carols. During the service in Plaka, Norwegian kids will perform classic favourites such as “Nå tenner vi det første lys” og “Å jul med din glede”.

Both the Christmas service and the fairytales will be in Norwegian.

The service is not the only Christmas activity taking place in Athens this year! Be sure not to miss the  traditional Nordic Christmas Bazaar On November 25-27. A possibility to taste and buy some brown cheese. Read more!
