Jon Fosse is recognised as one of the world’s greatest contemporary playwrights. Now you can see one of his plays in Athens.
“Someone will come” (original title “Nokon kjem til å komme”) is played at the Chora Theater (20 Amorgou str, Kypseli, Athens) from 17th of September – 18th of October. It is a poetic play on paranoia and jealousy caused by love. It presents the loneliness and the hidden wishes that exist in a man and a woman. These feelings surface when they move far away from the rest of the world and parallel with the eminent threat of the arrival of an unknown third person.
Time, location and past are not defined in the play. The author presents a love drama through a dreamlike insecurity, as things remain vague and anything can happen until the last moment.
Fosse has written novels, short stories, poetry, children’s books and essays – in addition to plays. His work has been translated into more than 40 languages, he has been made a chevalier of the Ordre national du Mérite du of France and recieved both national and international awards.
The play is produced by the theatrical company "Kyanous Leon", which is supported by The Greek Ministry of Culture, and directed by Lefteris Jovannidis, with actors Petros Alatzas, Galini Lymberopoulou, Josif Polyzoidis. Translation by Katerina Sarropoulou.
The play will be performed on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 21.15 and on Sundays at 20.00.
