Three Norwegian storytellers will participate at the 8th Folktales festival at the “Land of Myths and Folktales”, Kea. And it is all free of charge.
The theme for this year is “Metamorphoses” and storytellers from Greece and abroad will use the island’s paths, beaches and archeological sites as a stage to narrate stories and folktales from around the world.
Saturday, 24 July is dedicated to Norway and other Scandinavian countries and the Festival has invited Heidi Dahlsveen, Nina Næsheim and Maritha Nielsen to travel the audience with their storytelling to the far North and bring trolls and nisser to life !
Heidi Dahlsveen was born into a family on a small island off the East coast of Norway and was raised by a storytelling grandfather. She studied storytelling and theatre at the Oslo College of Drama and Communications and has been telling stories with great success for ten years.
Nina Næsheim worked in a kindergarten for many years where she enjoyed telling stories and encouraging children to tell their own tales. She studied at the Emerson College of Storytelling School and at the Artemis School of Speech and Drama in England. She likes to spice her tales with a dash of music and song as well as loads of humor and fun.
Maritha Nielsen is educated at the storytelling Oslo University College. She has also studied art, teaching and drama. When she tells her stories she incorporates her various skills into her performance.
The festival will take place from the 17th – 25th July 2010 and is supported by the Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian Institute at Athens.
