Characterizing itself as situated on the cutting edge of the new creation, on the provocation of the unexplored, the MIRfestival is held every year in Athens, presenting contemporary art for a week. Norwegian artist Ane Lan, alias Eivind Reierstad, will participate with the intriguing and eccentric performance «Dream Chamber».
According to artistic director Christiana Galanopoulou, the MIRfestival aims to be a space for creative artists and audiences to meet, exchange, communicate and reflect in an international context.
- We are looking forward to include Dream Chamber to this year's program, she says.
Dream Chamber by performance artist Ane Lan was first performed at Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in 2007. Ane Lan 's works operate in the tension field between exhibitionism and secrecy, addressing the relationship between the body, the viewer, the media, and society itself.
Daring, intriguing performance Dream ChamberLan presents his thoughts behind the performance in the following way:
«Presenting Freud as a drag queen having a woman in therapy, this short performance postulates that the modern human being is increasingly objectified as a result of commercialization of the mass media, and has consequently assumed the traditional feminine role as object. But if the «feminine condition» includes everyone, then who is the dominating subject?»
