Nikol Konstante and Nikolai Samuelsen will perform both Norwegian and Greek Christmas songs when they invite to a Christmas concert in Athens Anglican Church.
Mezzo-soprano Nikol Konstante and bass Nikolai Samuelsen present 18 cheerful Christmas songs from the Middle Ages and Byzantium and until our days. According to the duo, this is a Christmas concert with merry melodies that reflect the joy of Christ's birth.
Christmas is for most of us a time for a break from work, for family and friends. In Norway there has also been a long tradition of going to the Church and attend Christmas concerts during the Christmas holidays. The Norwegian Embassy and the Norwegian Institute are proud to support this concert in Athens, and we are also glad that some Norwegian Christmas songs will be performed, such as O jul med din glede.
The program includes songs in original performances, traditional and contemporary Christmas songs and spirituals. You can hear among others:
We three kings of Orient are, Carol of the bells, Stille Nacht, O Tannenbaum, Angels We Have Heard on High, Pastores a Belen, Rise Up Shepherd and Follow, O jul med din glede, Romjulsdrøm, Jingle Bells, Amazing Grace, Carols from Peloponnese and Pontos - Greece.
