Tempted by home-made sweets, mulled wine, cloudberry jam or the famous Norwegian brown cheese? Then pay a visit to the Scandinavian Church's Christmas Bazaar.
Every year Greeks, Norwegians, Danes, Swedes and Finns find their way to the church's bazaar for a week-end of meeting with old and new friends, enjoying home-made sweets, and select from the variety of tempting christmas products on the shelves of the four Nordic countries.
- I hope we will have many visitors, both Greeks and Scandinavians, says Liss Gustad Padazopoulou, responsible for the Norwegian stand.
Since February 2010, the Scandinavian Church is located in Daidalou 18 in Plaka, and priest Gunnar Lidén is looking forward to welcoming everyone to their new location. On the church's website: Svenskakyrkan.se you can find more information on the bazaar, as well as other activities, services and events the Church organises.
Ps! If you like trying new things, don't leave the bazaar without also trying the «brunost», a brown cheese made of goat's milk cheese, loved by Norwegians.
Opening hours:
Thursday 16:00-20:00
Friday 12:00-20:00
Saturday 12:00-20:00
Sunday 10:00-15:00
At the bazaar you will also find glögg, the Nordic form of mulled wine, prepared from red wine, heated and spiced with cinnamon sticks, vanilla pods, cloves, citrus and sugar. Enjoy it with almonds and raisins, the Scandinavian version of this traditional Christmas drink. From left: Inger Marie Øiahals, Marios Padazopoulou, Nina Lørum Stamatiou and Liss Gustad Padazopoulou
