Inger Håland will give you a Norwegian celebration to remember May 15.
– I look forward to a celebration embracing even more of the Norwegian traditions this year, says Inger Håland.
She has been planning the event together with her colleagues at The Norwegian Association in Athens. They have not left out any of the Norwegian traditions.
– This year we even have a traditional brass band. Eikeblaas is coming all the way from Norway to perform the national anthem and other tunes.
Remember to sign up for the event by May 8.
On May 17, Norwegians celebrate the constitution adopted in 1814. People march in parades to the beat of thundering bands, and a resounding "Hurrah for the 17th of May!" can be heard throughout the day.
The “sack race” is a popular competition on The National Day. Participants enters a rough sack and jump as fast as they can. The winner will get a price.
– Of course we have the “sack race” amongst many other games. We hope to be able to spend the day in the sun, serving sausages and ice cream to the children all day long, says Inger Håland.
You do not have to be Norwegian to participate in the celebration. Anyone especially interested in Norway is invited.
