Creates performance out of Athens

An acrobat, a choreographer, a sound and light technician, a writer and their instructor have taken residency in Athens exploring the city. How will they interpret the architecture and people? Don’t miss the one and only chance to attend the performance “Be Good to the Always” April 30.

– Everyone is contributing with their creative crafts, says the Norwegian choreographer, Anne-Linn Akselsen.

Akselsen is working with the Norwegian-Belgian artistic group Human Works. She has already found some inspiration in the Athenians dance in-between cars in the city centre.

  • Trough the eyes of a tourist

The group of artists represents an inspiring mix of nations and art forms. Benjamin Eugene is a champion in trampoline and will contribute with the circus on stage. Adrian Minkowicz from Argentina is the writer.

We are seeing the city through our eyes and as tourists. We are offering our specific point of view, Adrian Minkowicz says.

The production “Be Good to the Always” will move on to other cities after the premiere in Athens. The performance will be adapted to each city in a dynamic sense, meaning you’ll never be able to see the same performance twice.

    Unique invitation to Greece

    – In Athens Kinitiras Studio is offering us unique working conditions. In the other cities we’ll have to create the performance in one day. This really gives us the opportunity to develop our concept, Akselsen says.

Kinitiras Studio has provided residency and studio. This will give the artists space and time to create a location specific production.

    – Deep social awareness

    – The focus of the studio is the work of young artists of performing arts from all over the world that can contribute to the community through their work and develop the cultural as well as the educational aspect of society. Jensens’ work derives from a deep social awareness. Because of its humor it is very authentic and to our opinion can easily apply to the audiences, says artistic director of Kinitiras Studio, Antigone Gyra.

Kinitiras Studio has been inviting international artists since 2008, aiming to bring cultures together.

    Mixing and matching

Human Works and Rudi Skotheim Jensen Works are collaborating on the performance. Their exploring of the architecture and people of Athens through the eyes of tourists will result in the performance “Be Good to the Always”, mixing and matching various art forms such as dance, theatre, circus and video art.

Rudi Skotheim Jensen Works initiated and is now producing the production. “Be Good to the Always” is Jensen’s title, and you’ll have to show up for the performance to get it.

    – We have not defined the meaning of the title. To me it is the poetic sense of it that is appealing, Jensen says.

    – What interests Kinitiras the most is the fact that the performance will develop and alter during the stay of the artists in Athens so that the shape that we will see on the 30th of April will have the air of Athens through the eyes of young international artists. I am very curious to see how our depressed city will “Be Good to the Always”, says Gyra.
