Arne Lygre will be introduced to the Greek audience in Athens May 17.Not yet published in Greek, dramatist Arne Lygre is still unfamiliar to the Greek audiences. Tuesday May 17 he will be in Athens to meet his future fans.
– The Greek translation of the play “Man Without Purpose” is still in progress. The audience will get a very fresh dramatized reading of the Norwegian play in a Greek suit, says actress and director at The Greek Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), Olga Pozeli.
Arne Lygre has written seven plays since his debut in 1998, which has been staged and published in many countries around the world. “Man Without Purpose”, published in French, English and German, was performed at Odeon Theatre in Paris in 2007/2008. His latest play, “I Disappear”, will have its world premiere at La Colline Theatre National in Paris in November 2011, directed by Stéphane Braunschweig. Lygre is one of seven contemporary dramatists to be presented at The Second Meeting on Contemporary Theatre. Four days of readings and discussions aspires to introduce to the Greek public new international productions and bring the Greek audiences in touch with contemporary playwrights.
An extract of Arne Lygre's play will be dramatized on stage at 21.15 May 17. The event is free of charge. Everyone interested in contemporary theatre is invited.
The Second Meeting on Contemporary Theatre 16.-19. May is a collaboration between The French Institute of Athens and The Greek Center of ITI. This year it is the fifth Meeting on Contemporary Theatre arranged by ITI.
