The two exhibitions “Contemporary Norwegian Architecture 2000-2005” and “The Opera of Oslo” are currently on display at the Benaki Museum in Pireos street.

One of Norway’s most important architects Kjetil Trædal Thorsen – founding member of Snøhetta - presented his work at the Benaki museum in Pireos street on Tuesday 15 December. The presentation was very popular, with around 400 listeners.

Following his presentation two exhibitions “Contemporary Norwegian Architecture 2000-2005” and “The Opera of Oslo” was inaugurated. The exhibition of the Oslo Opera io shown for the first time in Greece and the curator Knut Opperud was present at the opening.

The Contemporary Norwegian Architecture exhibition is a travelling exhibition produced by the National Museum of Art, Architecture and design in Oslo in cooperation with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has already been shown in Thessaloniki.
Another exhibition on the work of two Greek architects, Aristomenis and Giorgos Varoudakis, will also be inaugurated the same evening, giving thus the chance to the Athenian audience to discover similarities and differences between the alternative natural environments and architecture of the most north and south extremities of Europe.

The event is organized by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture in cooperation with the Norwegian Embassy and Norwegian Institute at Athens and with the support of the Benaki museum and the National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo.

Sponsors: DNV, GARD, TAP, Herodion hotel.
