Giske mentioned the oil, shipping, tourism and renewable energy sectors as potentially interesting investment opportunities.
Other themes discussed included asylum and immigration, technology transfer, and of course shipping, as Greece and Norway are two of the biggest powers of global shipping. In that respect Giske promised to further the established practice of close cooperation on issues of joint interest at the International Maritime Organization, where both countries are among the most active members.
Giske in a meeting with Minister of Environment and Energy Mr Papakonstantinou at the Norwegian Embassy.- We also discussed cooperation on a solid and effective tax system, where Norway has good expertise, Giske said.
The Norwegian Minister finished his day in Athens with a lunch at the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence, together with the Ambassadors of Norway, Sweden and Finland. Mr. Giske will be back in Athens next week to meet with representatives from the Norwegian companies established in Greece.
