The NGO Norwegian People's Aid invites all interested persons to an open meeting in the Aktaion Hall in Rhodes. The main topics will be the global action against landmines and the importance of completing the clearance on suspected areas.

A presentation of "The Ottawa Treaty of 1997, heading towards a world free of landmines" will be held by the international lawyer Dr. Stuart Casey-Maslen. Also on his agenda is the possibility of the continued presence of landmines in certain areas of Rhodes. Finally, he will show a video containing a relevant speech by Kofi Annan.

Dr. Casey-Maslen represents the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, and the Cluster Munition Coalition (ICBL-CMC), and he works for the Norwegian People's Aid. He has also worked for large organizations like UNICEF and the Red Cross, and has a long standing commitment to promoting the prohibition of landmines and cluster munitions.

To learn more about the work on mine clearance by the Norwegian People's Aid, listen to an interview of Dr. Casey-Maslen.
