Greece is Europe's largest shipping nation. The Posidonia exhibition is held every two years in Athens and is one of the most important meeting places in international shipping. There are 1850 participating exhibitors from 87 countries at this year’s exhibition.
– The number and variety of Norwegian companies are impressive. It shows that the Norwegian industry is offensive in difficult times for the international shipbuilding and shipping industry, says State Secretary Rikke Lind.
Norwegian Association of Maritime Exporters and the Ship Register, had among other Norwegian companies, stands at the exhibition.
– A collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Maritime Directorate and the Ship Register is a part of our strategy to promote Norway as maritime host country, says Lind.
The Maritime Director and Deputy Director of the Ship Registers agree.
–It is important that the Norwegian maritime administration shows interest at the meeting places for international shipping, says director Olav Akselsen.
– Direct contact with ship owners and the maritime community is important to strengthen our position as a service-oriented quality register for international shipping, says Director Anita Malmedal at the Ship Register.
In addition to representing Norway at the Posidonia exhibition, State Secretary Lind also met with the Greek Minister economy, competitiveness and shipping, Louka Katseli.
