Can I bring my dog or cat to Norway?

Bringing your dog or cat to Norway is certainly possible, however, you must make the necessary preperations long before the date of departure.

The same rules apply whether you are importing a pet from Greece, or just want to bring it along on vacation. For assistance on the necessary procedures contact a veterinarian. As long as you do not travel with the entire zoo (There is a maximum limit of 5 animals), you can follow the general rules for animal transportation.

There are special rules for the transportation of pets that are under 3 months old. For more information you can send an e-mail to Mattilsynet.

Mattilsynet is the organisation responsible for animal health in Norway. On their web pages you can find an article callled Travelling with your dog, cat or ferret. Here you will find information on:

  • -Pet passport or certificate from veterinary
  • -ID-marking
  • -Treatment against echinococcose
  • -Rabies vaccine
  • -Blood test
  • -Examination after arrival
