Honorary Consuls are appointed by the Norwegian Government, but are usually nationals of the host countries. As the title implies, the Consuls do not receive a salary from the Norwegian Government, but have agreed to represent Norway in their region on a voluntary basis. Their main task is to promote Norwegian interests and further Norwegian-Greek co-operation in their region. The Honorary Consules often have dealings with Norway through their day-to day business, and can provide advice and assistance in relations with Norwegian authorities, institutions or individuals.
